Puppy Program

Bringing home a new, fluffy family member can be one of the most exciting things; puppy breath, smooshy faces and playful paws! Once your new fur-baby is settled at home, it’s imperative that desensitization never stops. From hand feeding meals, to leash and crate training, getting them used to a daily routine is one of the best ways to raise a healthy and friendly adult dog. A major part in this is proper coat maintenance and grooming. Professional grooming for your new pup should begin in no more than a week from bringing them home, or 24-72 hours after their first Rabies shot. We understand that new environments for puppies can be scary- especially if they haven’t had all of their vaccines, this is why we have created a fool-proof puppy program with blocks of time put between each pet. This ensures proper and full sanitation of the workspace before they come in! Below, you can read all about what each visit in our 6 appointment program will entail, along with pricing for each appointment.

The First Appointment

At your puppy’s first visit with us, we will focus mainly on all of the big and scary noises or happenings within the salon. This will include getting your puppy used to its nails being done and paws touched, different tools and equipment touching their body and face, the loud and scary sounds, etc. In this appointment, there will not be a bath or much done to them. You can expect the nails to be clipped or filed (depending on their feelings about the dremel), their coat brushed out, eyes cleared of hair, and sanitary areas done to make potty training easier. This appointment is mainly to get the puppy used to the new environment, all the sights and sounds in it, and basic grooming needs excluding the full service.

All first visit puppies are priced at $35 - $50, varying based on brushing needs and coat length.

The Second & Third Appointments

At your puppy’s second & third visits with us, we will continue the desensitization process with a slow introduction to each step. You can expect the nails to be done, coat brushed out, any hair in the eyes, ears, paw pads and sanitary areas cleared, along with an introduction to the high velocity dryer; and, if all goes well- a hydrating Argan Oil bath!

At your puppy’s fourth visit, you can expect everything in earlier visits to be done, as well as some light trimming of the coat. We will continue introduction the clippers, starting with sound and feeling, but not cutting. If your puppy seems to be doing well with the clippers around them, we may attempt a haircut. Otherwise, we will revert back to using scissors for the main haircut and continue to desensitize them to the clippers until they are ready.

The Fourth Appointment

At your puppy’s fifth and/or sixth visit(s), you can expect to have a clean and fully groomed dog! At this point, with what we have done in the salon as well as the maintenance you’ve been doing at home, your puppy should be comfortable with the entire grooming process. By the last appointment in our program, we expect most puppies to be 6 - 8 months old, with each puppy appointment being 3 - 5 weeks apart. After the Puppy Program is finished, each service will reflect normal prices for your dog’s weight. You can expect these prices to rise if your puppy is not at it’s adult weight, and you will not qualify for puppy prices if you are not seen at least every 5 weeks. Consistency with puppies is key to having a grooming-safe, fully grown, adult dog.

The Fifth & Sixth Appointments

If your puppy is 40lbs or heavier, please call us for pricing, as large puppies are typically more work.

Please keep in mind that all prices listed at STARTING AT prices and will increase with your puppy’s weight.
